Opening Year Admissions – April 2026
Now Welcoming Pre K1 & K1 Students!

Beginning in April 2026, we are delighted to welcome K1 students (3-year-olds) as well as Pre K1 students (2-year-olds) into our program. This is a wonderful opportunity for young children to join Kensington International Preschool from the very beginning and experience a truly special year of growth.

In our opening year, each class will begin with a small group of up to 12 children. Starting small allows us to provide warm, attentive care and build a close, connected community where every child feels supported.

This is an exciting new step for us and a great chance for families to begin their Kensington journey early.

Parent Consultations

We are currently holding individual consultations for families considering enrollment for April 2026. If you would like to learn more about our program or discuss whether it is the right fit for your child, please apply using the form at the bottom of this page.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

At Kensington, we begin with a deep respect for the child, whom we see as capable, curious, and full of potential. Children are partners in learning, each with their own unique path of growth which we nurture by listening closely, valuing their ideas, and fostering independence.

At the same time, we hold high expectations, believing that children achieve more when they are trusted, encouraged with love, and supported in our small classes, where every child is truly seen and feels safe to take risks, make mistakes, and grow.

We believe in a play-centered education, as play is the child’s most powerful way of learning. Through play, children make sense of the world, developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with others. Play opens doors to deeper learning, allowing children to explore, share, and expand their understanding.

Finally, we are committed to the belief that wonder and academic progress go hand in hand. Early childhood should be filled with experiences that spark joy and curiosity, while nurturing resilience, so that every child thrives both academically and personally, building a love of learning that will stay with them for life.

Joy, Wonder & Academic Progress

Joy, Wonder & Academic Progress

Joy
Joy is at the heart of everything we do. Children learn best when they are having fun and feel loved and respected.

Wonder
We aim to inspire wonder in every child. Through curiosity, exploration and rich learning experiences, students discover how amazing and beautiful the world around them truly is.

Academic Progress
Every student will make steady and meaningful academic progress. While children learn at their own pace, our teachers actively guide and support each child to grow across all areas of our curriculum.

Personalised Learning

We believe the best learning happens in small groups, where each child receives personal attention, space to express themselves, and the support they need to grow with confidence and develop strong, positive learning behaviours.

That’s why at Kensington, we operate with a 1:4 teacher-child ratio most of the time (maximum 1:6)—ensuring every student is truly seen, supported, and able to reach their full academic potential.

We offer an intentionally small, high-quality program, with enrollment limited to just 12 students per class—ensuring every child receives the highest level of care, attention, and individual support.

Every space is a learning space

A Learning Space Designed for Children

Year 1 (April 2026)

  • Max 12 children
  • Teacher / Child Ratio 1:4 (Max 1:6)

Our campus is open, filled with natural light, and designed to inspire learning with the environment as the 3rd teacher.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach and shaped by the Kensington philosophy, our environment invites children to explore, ask questions, and connect meaningfully with the world around them through play.

Each classroom opens into a shared learning space where children:

Collaborate Communicate Create

Our Curriculum

At Kensington, children build strong foundations in academics while also developing our students’ curiosity, confidence, critical thinking, and creativity. Our curriculum balances structured learning with the freedom to play, explore, and express themselves, guided by caring educators in an English immersion environment.

English Language & Literacy

Children build strong foundations in speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, phonics, reading, and writing—using English naturally across play and inquiry.

Mathematics

Hands-on experiences make numbers meaningful—counting, patterns, shapes, measuring, sorting, plus early addition and subtraction.

Science & Understanding the World

Inquiry and critical thinking—children ask questions, observe closely, and test ideas through projects and experiments.

Social Studies & Culture

Students learn Japanese traditions and community life while also developing global perspectives and respect for diversity.

Arts & Creativity

Our atelier, music, movement, and dramatic play support the “hundred languages of children.”

Physical Development

Outdoor exploration and active play build gross and fine motor skills, coordination, and healthy habits.

Practical Life Skills

Children build independence through daily routines—self-care, tidying, caring for materials, and the environment.

Social–Emotional Learning

Children develop friendships, empathy, resilience, and collaboration through daily circles, reflection, and guided support.

Across All Areas: What Children Become

Across learning areas, children grow into confident communicators, creative thinkers, resilient learners, and caring teammates.

A Day at Kensington —

At Kensington, we combine a carefully designed academic curriculum with the freedom for each child to pursue their own interests, guided thoughtfully by our educators. While building strong foundations in spoken English, numeracy and literacy we give children space to explore and wonder with a goal of nurturing critical thinking, inquiry, and a lifelong love of learning—so that the habits and mindset students develop here continue to benefit them long after they graduate from our kindergarten.

English: Both the Goal and the Medium

At Kensington, English is more than a subject.

We aim for native-like fluency, but also use English as the language of thinking, inquiry, and connection.

Students learn English through:

Exploration and discussion
Literature and storytelling
Science, math, and social studies
Daily conversation and creative play

Our Teachers

At Kensington, we are proud of our international team of early childhood educators. Each teacher brings extensive experience and has been carefully selected through our rigorous hiring process.

All teachers complete in-depth initial training and continue with regular professional development. We see teachers as lifelong learners, growing alongside the children.

Above all, our teachers create a safe, nurturing environment where children feel secure, respected, and loved. They act as role models of authentic English communication, helping students acquire language naturally through daily interactions, inquiry, and play.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our teachers are not only instructors but also co-learners with the children—guiding discovery, designing learning spaces that inspire curiosity and creativity, supporting social and emotional growth, and partnering with families.
