Important Update
Last updated: Sep 9th, 2025
After careful consideration, we have updated our admissions policy for the first academic year (starting April 2026).
To provide the highest quality learning experience, we will admit only one class of K1 students (3-year-olds) in our opening year.
Maximum class size: 12 students
Age group: K1 only (3-year-olds only)
This decision ensures that every child receives the personal attention, care, and support that are central to our philosophy.
We will continue updating this page regularly as we prepare for our April 2026 opening.

Personalised Learning
We believe the best learning happens in small groups, where each child receives personal attention, space to express themselves, and the support they need to grow with confidence and develop strong, positive learning behaviours.
That’s why at Kensington, we operate with a 1:4 teacher-child ratio most of the time (maximum 1:6)—ensuring every student is truly seen, supported, and able to reach their full academic potential.
We offer an intentionally small, high-quality program, with enrollment limited to just 12 students per class—ensuring every child receives the highest level of care, attention, and individual support.

Our Curriculum
At Kensington, children build strong foundations in academics while also developing creativity, curiosity, and confidence. Our curriculum is designed to balance structured learning with the freedom to explore and express themselves, guided by caring educators in an English-immersion environment.
At Kensington, English is both the goal and the medium of learning. We build strong foundations in speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, phonics, reading, and writing while also using English naturally throughout the day—in play, inquiry, storytelling, science, and math. This immersive approach helps children acquire native-like fluency and the confidence to express their own thoughts, feelings, and ideas.
Math is introduced through hands-on experiences that make numbers meaningful. Children explore counting, patterns, shapes, measuring, comparing, sorting, classifying, graphing, and basic addition and subtraction. These skills are developed not only during focused lessons but also intuitively woven into play and daily life—whether sorting blocks, sharing snacks, or measuring water in discovery time and morning centers. Our aim is to give every child a secure foundation in numeracy that naturally prepares them to excel in advanced math, while also nurturing the curiosity to see math in the world around them.
Inquiry and critical thinking are at the heart of our approach. Children learn to ask questions, observe closely, and test ideas through discovery projects and experiments. From exploring nature on walks to using all their senses to investigate objects inside and outside the classroom, children develop curiosity and the skills to make and test assumptions about the world around them. This fosters a lasting love of exploration and discovery.
We nurture children’s understanding of both their own culture and the wider world. Students learn about Japanese traditions and seasonal customs, explore their local community while also being introduced to global perspectives from our international team of instructors. These experiences help children develop respect for diversity and a meaningful sense of connection to the world around them.
Creative expression is central to learning at Kensington. Our atelier is a dedicated space for exploring art and the many possibilities of artistic thinking and processes. Together with music, movement, and dramatic play, it reflects what Reggio Emilia describes as the “hundred languages of children” — the multiple ways children create, discover, and communicate their ideas to the world.
Active play, outdoor learning, and structured PE sessions support both gross and fine motor growth. Through sports, dance, obstacle courses, and nature play, children build strength, coordination, and healthy habits while developing a lasting curiosity and love for the outdoors.
Independence and responsibility grow through real-life experiences. Children learn to care for themselves, their classroom, and their environment—tidying up, helping with daily tasks, watering plants, and looking after materials. These simple routines build confidence, problem-solving skills, and a strong sense of responsibility that prepares children for life beyond the classroom.
We place major importance on social and emotional growth. Children learn to build friendships, work as a team, show empathy, and develop resilience. They practice expressing their own ideas and opinions with confidence while also learning to collaborate respectfully with others. Through daily circles, reflection, guided interactions, and conflict resolution—and above all through the respect we extend to every child as a competent, capable, and curious human being full of potential—we help children gain confidence, manage emotions, and grow as caring members of their community.
- Expressing their feelings, opinions and ideas with confidence
- Setting goals and collaborating well with others to achieve them.
- Planning, making decisions, and solving problems with persistence.
- Showing empathy, responsibility, and independence.
- Approaching the world with curiosity and wonder.
- Thinking creatively and finding new ways to do things.
- Making predictions, testing their ideas, and learning from results.
- Reviewing how well an approach worked and changing strategy as needed
- Taking pride in their efforts and how they accomplished something, not just the outcome.
- Enjoying meeting challenges for their own sake rather than external rewards or praise
A Day at Kensington -
At Kensington, we combine a carefully designed academic curriculum with the freedom for each child to pursue their own interests, guided thoughtfully by our educators. While building strong foundations in spoken English, numeracy and literacy we give children space to explore and wonder with a goal of nurturing critical thinking, inquiry, and a lifelong love of learning—so that the habits and mindset students develop here continue to benefit them long after they graduate from our kindergarten.

English: Both the Goal and the Medium
At Kensington, English is more than a subject.
We aim for native-like fluency, but also use English as the language of thinking, inquiry, and connection.
Students learn English through:
Exploration and discussion
Literature and storytelling
Science, math, and social studies
Daily conversation and creative play
Our Teachers -
At Kensington, we are proud of our international team of early childhood educators. Each teacher brings extensive experience and has been carefully selected through our rigorous hiring process.
All teachers complete in-depth initial training and continue with regular professional development. We see teachers as lifelong learners, growing alongside the children.
Above all, our teachers create a safe, nurturing environment where children feel secure, respected, and loved. They act as role models of authentic English communication, helping students acquire language naturally through daily interactions, inquiry, and play.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, our teachers are not only instructors but also co-learners with the children—guiding discovery, designing learning spaces that inspire curiosity and creativity, supporting social and emotional growth, and partnering with families.
